Currently, Citizens for Elmhurst Preservation is an all volunteer organization. So we need your help!
If you love Elmhurst and are passionate about preserving its history, charm, and unique character, consider joining our fun, energetic group of residents working to protect what makes Elmhurst special.
We meet monthly and collaborate through four working committees.
Advocacy Committee
- Engages with elected officials and city staff to promote historic preservation
- Partners with the Historic Preservation Commission to strengthen preservation ordinances
- Coordinates with national and state organizations to bring best practices to Elmhurst
Community Engagement & Fundraising Committee
- Promotes preservation at community events
- Develops creative fundraising initiatives
Public Relations & Media Committee
- Manages our website and social media
- Shares our mission through press and local publications
Historical Information, Education &
Awareness Committee
- Organizes tours, lectures, and exhibits to celebrate Elmhurst’s heritage
- Develops and maintains a register of significant homes
- Educates homeowners about their property's unique history
- Create a network of preservation-minded contractors, realtors, architects, and lenders
- Assists realtors with marketing homes with historical value
- Leads local activities during National Historic Preservation Month (May)
- Collaborates closely with the Elmhurst History Museum
